Outlook 2003 does not remember password

After channging the domain password, Outlook does not remember the password
any longer, even though the "remember my password" checkbox is set.

The Configuration:
Outlook 2003, Cached Mode to Exchange Server
Windows XP SP1, locally logged on, not member of the Exchange domain.

The "remember my password" had worked well untile the password in the
exchange domain must ne changed.
"remember my password" for other resources, like web or file shares works
well.

Any hint?
