Outlook 2003 doesn't remember POP-password

Andreas Hoppe

Hi folks,

as I read in many threads, Outlook 2003 in combination with WinXP
seems not to remember POP-passwords although the corresponding
check-box is activated. On a previous installation of WinXP with
Outlook 2003 it worked fine, but since I newly installed Windows on
the same machine it doesn't remember them anymore.

I also tried the often suggested registry patch with changing the
security options for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected
Storage System Provider" and deleting its sub-keys but even that
didn't work. As I read many other people have had the same "success"
in doing this. I also created new profiles, new e-mail-accounts and so
on and nothing really worked.

Because I don't want to re-install Windows and Outlook again I hope
anyone who reads this has an adequate solution for getting rid of this
mess (except using another email-client :) )...

Thanks for helping,

Andreas Hoppe

Hi,

I am having the same problem. I have done the regedit32
process about 5 times, and still no luck. Can someone
help? Thanks.

I've also posted about this same thing and have yet to get
a resolution. Isn't there SOMEONE who knows what to do.
And PLEASE do not suggest changing the Protected Storage
setting, it's not working.
