Outlook 2003 doesn't save sent items when external program is used

I have a user whose Outllook 2003 does not save sent items when the e-mail is
sent using an external ERP software. Other users do not seem to have this
issue.

I have not yet tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software, either Outlook
or the ERP software, in the hopes that someone can point to something obvious.

WinXP Pro is the OS.
