Outlook 2003 fail to retrieve incoming emails

Hello,

I've been using outlook 2003 for some time with no
problems until a few days ago when I started to get
SERVER TIMEOUT error messages when click on send/recieve.

I checked with both my ISP (Verizon) and my email hosting
facility and they both confirmed the mail servers and the
connection are working fine.

I am able to send emails, telnet the server and when run
the connection test from the account settings screen, it
pass all tests.

I tried to uninstall and re-install office but it didn't
do anything.

I tried to create a diferrent account in XP but still the
same problem - Outlook 2003 fails to retrieve emails.

I would greatly appreciate any help...

Yep. And I found the problem.

There was a message on the mail server which caused all
that. Once I deleted the message through the web mail
interface, outlook was able to download all other
messages.

I assume this message was probably infected and Norton
was preventing the download.
