Outlook 2003 goes into Offline Mode (not using Exchange Server)

I'm using Outlook 2003 with an IMAP account. I am NOT using MS Exchange. I
also utilize the Oracle Connector for Outlook. It delivers my Oracle
Calendar information into Outlook. I ONLY have the Connector set up to
handle my calendar info and NOT my email. The problem I am having is that
when I sometimes open Outlook it opens in Offline Mode. This is an
intermittent problem. I may try opening it four times in a row before it
happens or it may be 15 times. That was done simply to gauge how often it
may happen.

I have disabled Symantec's scanning of email. I also created a new profile
through the Mail icon in Control Panel and had the same thing happen. I've
since reverted to the original Outlook profile. I use a laptop at a college
campus. I disconnected my wireless connection and it still goes offline from
time to time.

I have no idea at all why Outlook is behaving this way. I'd appreciate it
if anyone would please provide some insight and assistance as to what may be
causing this problem. Thank you.
