Outlook 2003 (installed as part of Office Pro 2003) on a Windows XP
Pro SP1 computer in an SBS 2003 network hangs at the splash screen.
Have tried a different mail profile, logged onto the PC as different
users, used DHCP, static addressing, ran detect & repair (from Word
2003), installed Office 2003 SP1, removed and reinstalled Office 2003
and Outlook 2003 by itself etc. but no change. When configuring a new
mail profile, the wizard hangs after clicking Next at the window where
the server name and mailbox are entered. Two other identical machines
on the network don't exhibit this behavior. The System log show
nothing but the app log shows the following each time a user logs onto
this computer:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1005
Date: 8/19/2004
Time: 2:55:09 PM
User: AIMS\Tammy
Computer: WKS03
Description:
Windows cannot connect to aims.lan domain. (Operations Error). Group
Policy processing aborted.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Havne't figured out whether the above has anything to do with the
Outlook issue yet but Googling for the above error has yielded no
useful results.
