Outlook 2003 Hangs When Sending An E-mail with Attachment

When sending an e-mail with an attachment (any size or type), Outlook will
send the message and store in the Sent Items folder, but the message window
stays on the screen. Sometimes it can be closed with the "x", but sometimes
you cannot close it without ending the Outlook task. Any ideas why the
message window would stay on-screen after it is sent?
