Outlook 2003 hijacks my default email handler

I use OE6 for email. I want to keep Outlook 2003 for Calendar and Contacts
only.

But every time I leave OE and open Outlook, then return to OE . . . OE says
it's not my default email handler anymore, and I have to click the little
box to make it change back.

I had a similar problem a few years back, and was told to simply delete the
Inbox (and a few more things). But Delete is now grayed out; I can't do that
anymore.

Can anyone help me teach Outlook to mind its own business and leave my email
alone? I'm running XP SP2.

And I think I know the culprit: removal of IE7.

This condition first appeared on my desktop, and Dell (at a year's donation
of $240) helped me back out of IE7 in favor of 6.

I just performed the same steps myself, on my laptop, and bang! up cropped
the same problem.

Microsoft . . . you've done it again!

I know Microsoft monitors this newsgroup. I'd just like to thank you for all
your help. Which never appeared.

Next time: Apple!
