Outlook 2003 - IE6 - Typing freezes

I have a client that has Outlook 2003 installed. (And uninstalled,
and reinstalled!) When typing in a new message his typing freezes then
the words suddenly appear. He also has large delays in highlighting
text for copy/paste.

He has IE6, and I've checked for Malware and Ad ware. Virus
protection is up-to-date. (Sophos). I've turned off Voice
recognition, lengthened Auto-Save to 15 mins. I've checked the Plug-
ins, and the window is empty. The Add-ons were disabled with no
change.

I think I've run out of options, does anyone have any ideas? I really
could use some help figuring this one out.

Thanks in advance.

Ah, that used to happen with a computer of mine. Does it also do that
anywhere else he types (like Word)? He's probably trying to run too many
programs at the same time or his computer just needs to be upgraded. It's not
a software issue, it's a hardware issue.

No, it only happens in Outlook 2003. Just before I posted my first
message I rebooted his machine and then only opened Outlook. Same
problem. The computer is running XP Professional, 2.8 GHz processor,
512 MB RAM and has SP2 installed.

I've also checked for weird programs installed, nothing he shouldn't
have.
