outlook 2003 import export calendar file incompatability

I get the "file is not compatible with this version of the personal folders
information service. contact your administrator." Well, it's ol2003 to ol2003
just different machines with the same ms office xp pro cd installed on both.
I found a workaround in the support center (article 839109 from 12-2-04) but
it did not work.

1) Office XP Pro does NOT contain Outlook 2003.
2) Outlook 2003's PST format is not compatible with Outlook 2002 in Office
XP.
3) If the method in the article you cite didn't work, then you didn't follow
the procedure correctly.

Thanks Brian, I would agree. I was wrong about the xp and 2003 thing. Either
way, I used the same office xp pro cd's on both machines and when I go to
import export my calendar to the new machine from the same program on the old
machine, I get "the file is not compatible with this version of the Personal
Folders information service. Contact your administrator." Why won't this work?

Thanks!

Also, when I tried the workaround, I didn't see "calendar" in the personal
folders, it was one of those big main buttons at the bottom of the personal
folders area (along with contacts etc.) Thanks.

Can we start again, then? Exactly which versions of Outlook are you using?
It still sounds like you're using OL 2003 on one system and OL 2002 on
another. Moreover, exporting/importing is not the best way to transfer data
between Outlook instances.

I got it fixed, you were right. I had to pay $35 for live help, and even he
had trouble at first but we got it to work. It was the "workaround" solution
but it never works like the papers say to. I'm curious, what is a better way
to transfer calendars from one computer to the next if not import\export?

Thanks alot.

Create a new PST with FIle>New>Outlook Data File. Right-click the Calendar
and choose Copy. Select as the destination the new PST. When the copy
completes, right-click the new PST and choose Close. Close Outlook.
Transport the new PST to the other instance of Outlook, taking care to not
overwrite any PST of the same name and to remove the read-only attribute if
set. Start Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the new
PST, select it and click OK. You'll now have access to the Calendar you
copied and you can copy the items in it to your regular calendar.
