I have Outlook 2003, home use, on XP Pro, with a POP
email account. When I launch Outlook (and if I just leave
it on for days at a time too), when it starts downloading
mail, I'll see something like: downloading 1 of 100. The
count goes up, but then it hangs at something like (e.g.)
27 of 100. After hanging there for a while, it starts all
over again. Then it hangs, sometimes on the same number,
sometimes a new number, and starts all over again. This
often happens at least five or so times. Usually I'll log
on with my browser, try to delete as much junk as I can,
then start Outlook again. It will do the same thing, but
after two or three false starts, it will finally download
everything. Then, it will work fine for a bit, then the
problem begins all over again.
I'm about ready to scream, I'm so frustrated. When first
I upgraded to 2003, it was flawless. I did try installing
the Business Contact Manager, and I have had a nightmare
of a time trying to upgrade to SP2. I have removed both
from my machine (SP2 was never fully installed).
If anyone knows what's going on, I would be very grateful
for any advice you can send my way. If it's not too much
of a bother, in addition to posting, could you send me
your ideas directly?
