Outlook 2003 Multiple Archive .PST Files

Mike

We have a PC at work thar has eight archive .pst files and two more .pst
files that load in Personal Folders.
The user wants to keep all of the files because they contain messages from
differente date ranges.
I renamed the files to reflect their date ranges and moved them to a network
drive.
I believe I read someplace that person folder .pst files should be kept on
the local pc and
not network drives. Is it ok to store .pst files on network drives. is it
possible to combine
..pst files by dragging the contents of archive folder #2 to archiove folder
#1?

Thanks,
Mike

you can merge PST files using drag and drop as you mentioned.
Having a PST on a Network drive is not supported and might lead to issues.

Thanks, what sort of isuues might arise due to having .pst files on drives?
I could copy duplicates of all .pst files to each of her three pcs.

You can try it on a Networked drive but it isn't supported. Some users do
this.
The problems can be with access when there are network problems (Outlook
thinks the PST doesn't exist and creates a new one). Accessing from multiple
locations can be problematic if the PST is held open by one of the Outlooks.
It can also lead to data corruption. I've done it with only occasional
problems.
