Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

I am unable to open Outlook 2003 SP3 on Windows 7. This is a new Dell PC w/
Win7 installed. If I run Outlook in XP compatability mode I receive error
"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The information store could not
be opened." Wierd thing is if I open Outlook from Windows Safe Mode with
Networking it works fine. I have tried stopping all services except those
running in safe mode and still no luck.
Any ideas... please?

No. If I use it without compatability mode I don't get anything but a generic
"Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working". If I delete the Outlook
profile and kick off Outlook again, I get up to where I enter my Exchange
Server Name and User Name, and then click on Next, I just get the spinning
circle.

It should work without compatibility mode. What happens when you try to run
it? Did you use easy transfer or create a fresh new profile?

Hello. I am having a similar problem as of yesterday AM. I have Outlook 2007 running on a Windows 7 PC connecting to an Exchange 2007 server. The problem started after I rebooted my PC becasue it was updated overnight. After the reboot, Outlook started crashing.

I tried creating a new Outlok profile, but as soon as it tried to resolve the mailbox, it would crash.

Uninstalled Outlook & Office a few times now to no avail. Installed Outlook 2003, same problem.

I can connect to a pop3 mailbox with no problem, but as soon as I try to connect to Exchange, it crashes.

Uninstalled all updates applied that night, still not working.

Rebooted Windows to Safe Mode with Networking and Outlook opens my Exchange mailbox with no problems.

Rebooted normally again and it crashes right away.
Scanned for spyware/malware and found nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried opening Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch?

I haven't used Windows 7 yet, so bear with me:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /resetnavpane
(note the space between outlook.exe and /resetnavpane)

I'm not sure what Run is called in Windows 7. In Vista, it's Start Search.
Hopefully this helps. Certainly post back if it doesn't.

FYI - in the newer versions of Windows You can access the run command by
using "Windows Key" + "R".

Tried your suggestion adn it made no difference.
Forgot to mention this...The Mail control panel applet will crash
trying to edit/create a profile that has an Exchange mailbox. I can
create/edit profiles with POP3 mailboxes with no problem.

I'd really like to solve this without haveing to rebuild, but it's no
looking too promising so far. It's almost like something in one of th
updates changed the way Windows 7 transmits LDAP authentication acros
the network

I was having exactly the problem described in this thread, although withy
Outlook 2007 on Vista, as well as a seperate Outlook 2007 on Windows 7
install.

I've set up many Outlook to Exchange accounts/profiles and never had this
problem until recently, so the new issue must have been introduced through a
new update that MS has released.

My workaround has to not check the store password login box, or in any other
way get Windows/Outlook to remember my Exchange password.

My issue at least seems to be that Microsoft has broken something required
for Outlook/Windows to staore a new Exchange account password.
