Outlook 2003: Open Next Item Redux

In Outlook 2003, you have the Tools>Options>E-mail Options where you can set "open the next item" after moving or deleting an open item. Can this be made to work when using an IMAP server? The item isn't "officially deleted" until you purge it from the server, making for lots of clicks to get the next item

I've been using OL2003 less than 24 hrs. Why do I always get to what you can't do so quickly????
