We have Outlook 2003 running on an XP machine. All the
latest patches/upgrades have been installed on the
system. We are running Act! version 6 to generate
mailing lists with attachments. Act! interfaces with
Outlook, creating emails with these attachments, and
depositing them on Outlook's Outbox. The emails are
created in groups of 100 (per Act!'s suggestion)so we are
able to send newsletters to 100 people at a time.
We have noticed that once they are deposited in the
Outbox (which Act! does at a fairly quick speed, less
than 4 minutes), Outlook then takes about 40 minutes to
actually send out these emails (the attachment in each
email is about 250K).
Our network seems to be fine and our ISP is Time Warner
Road Runner (and it has always been up and running when
we run into our Outlook problem).
Why would Outlook be spending so much time sending emails
out (assuming no network problems) considering that each
email is only about 250K in length with the attachment?
