Outlook 2003 - Problem with File Attachments

M

Mike Graves

When using Office 2003, using the File Send as Attachment Command from Word /
Excel etc. The file is attached to a blank email message. At this point you
are allowed to add text to the message. Unfortunately when you click on
send, the file is sent, and the message text is not. This appears to be a
bug in the new version, since the XP Version works fine. Has anyone found a
workaround for this problem?

I have not seen this problem so I am unaware of any fix. What format is the
message in? Outlook Rich Text Format? If you change the format, does the
problem persist?

After furious head scratching, Mike Graves asked:

The bug is using Outlook in the default set up "HTML". I have not tried
changing to rich text or plain text, so I will and let you know. Scanning
the Websites, I have found several people with the same problem. For some
reason from Office you can click file attach, and a new message appears with
the attached file, but when you add text to the email, and click sent (POOF)
the file is sent, with no email text. The workaround I have found is
clicking send, and then go into the outbox and add the text. I will try
changing the way the message is handled.

(Out of Order - Sorry)

The bug in Outlook only appears when the setting for email format is set to
HTML. The bug goes away when set to Rich Text or Plain Text. This is the
workaround, however I do not understand why this is happening. I have set
the default to plain text to resolve the problem, since most of the time I do
not do special formats to my email. Thanks
