Outlook 2003 Problems

Jose

I recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. I'm running XP Pro SP2.
I am having the following three problems with Outlook

1. It will not recognize names from my contact list when I type them in the
"To" field of an e-mail message. The program keeps getting confused and
underlining the name in red. When I right-click on it, it wants me to choose
between the recipient's e-mail address and their fax number!

2. Outlook keeps insisting in "Synchonyzing" folders. It seems that every
time I look at my computer's task bar, there is an icon on it telling me that
Outlook is zynchronyzing folders.

3. I cannot get rid of the MSN Messanger icon. It insists on launching
itself every time I start Outlook. I have uninstalled the application from
the add/remove Windows components and yet, it insists on running with Outlook.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Jose

FAX numbers are electronic addresses, too. In the Contacts item, put a
string in front of the FAX number, like "F" or "FAX" and Outlook won't see
them as electronic addresses and won't try to autoresolve them.

What type of account(s) do you use?

Tools>Options>Other. At the bottom, uncheck "Enable the Person Names Smart
Tag".
