Outlook 2003 PST Files and Entourage 2008

Lynn Q

Hi there,

I wish to know if it's feasible to import Outlook 2003 PST (archive) files into Entourage 2008.
I need to go through and remove duplicates.

After the duplicates have been removed, can I then export the Entourage archived file so as to
be able to use it again in Outlook 2003?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Lynn,

the short answer is: no. The convoluted answer is: there are some options
that allow you to move data from Outlook to Entourage, but none of them are
straightforward.

See here:<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/cross_platform/win_mac.html>

The best solution would be to use an Exchange account, so you can easily
move data between Outlook and Entourage.
Thanks for the info. Now can you tell me please how I go about acquiring an Exchange account?
I was under the impression Exchange is for corporate accounts. Is that the case? Otherwise,
what kind of accounts (such as a .Mac or GMail account for example) can be configured to work
with Exchange? I guess I need more information on this so if you could guide me as to the
possibilities I would appreciate that.

Thank you!

Hi Lynn,

if it's only email you care about, and not contacts or calendar events, then
you won't need Exchange; IMAP will do. Both MobileMe/.Mac and Gmail can be
configured as IMAP accounts in Outlook and Entourage, and if you modify
email messages on one system (by moving or deleting them, for instance),
these changes will automatically be reflected on the other system as well.
You can find instructions for setting up these accounts in the respective
service's online help centre.

As for Exchange: yes, it is normally used in corporate environments only,
but several email providers also offer Exchange accounts, though you will
need to pay for a subscription.

If you need any further details, post back.

Do a Google search on "hosted Exchange" to find providers. Otherwise as
Michel mentioned IMAP will work.
