Outlook 2003 Reading Pane Problem

I am having a problem with the reading pane in OUtlook 2003. I am using the Microsoft Office Small Business 2003 package. Everytime I click on a message the reading pane will not display the message. The reading pane locks up and will not let me view the current message. I have to double click on the email to view the message
