Outlook 2003 rules problem

Using Outlook 2003 rules to direct incoming email to various directories. The problem I have is that the email goes to the directory specified and also to my own Inbox.

To put it another way - Mail directed to me goes to my inbox (not the general one). If it is from say Microsoft it is supposed to then get moved to the Microsoft directory. I do not want it in my inbox as well.

Can anyone explain to me how to stop this. All messages are run in th emain Inbox, so the message should get moved to the Microsoft folder first, then its not there to get moved to my Inbox.

I am currently storing 2 copies of every message. This used to work properly in OE6, why not now.
