Hi,
Can anyone advise on how to correct the following error when starting outlook?

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or wrong
version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software.
Please reinstall Outlook.

I was using Office 2007 trial but uninstalled it. since then outlook 2003
will not load although I have uninstalled ALL office copies and reinstalled
2003 seven times now still can not run outlook 2003 same error every time.

Rename MAPI32.DLL found at \Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 to
MAPI32.OLD. Go to Add/Remove programs in the control panel and do a
repair/reinstall of Office 2003.

Hi neo,

Almost right, MAPI32.DLL was the correct version as it has reloaded. But I
did see MSMAPI32.DLL was still the Outlook 2007 version ie 12. Deleted and
reinstalled, All now ok.

Thanks Klingstin

How the heck did you delete them? I cannot figure out how to set the
permissions in such a way as to delete them. I have only one user for my
Vista system, but I can't get rid of any of the Windows system files. Pete
