Outlook 2003 won't launch Word as editor

I

IBDANL

Running XP, Office 2003 SP3. Outlook 2003 hangs when attempting to launch
Word as it's editor - both when viewing or forwarding.
Ran detect/repair, no change. Re-installed Outlook 2003, no change

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Word launches normally..default is locally attached (this problem is
for my home pc..not work related)..not sure if I loaded all the plugins
after reinstalling 2003

Humm, does it open Word ok when you create new message, bu not read or
reply? If that's the case I wonder about the message contents.

When I open a 'new' msg, it hangs trying to connect to Word. When I
attempt to 'reply' or 'forward' an existing msg, it hangs. Regardless of
email content, this happens.

I can open up Word in standalone and Word works fine. I haven't tried to
send an email via Word (i.e. reverse the process).

Strange.... running Spysweeper & Norton..sweeps r clean. Wonder if
my registry got hosed somehow. Not doing anything different..no software
installs,
etc..

You could try forcing Word to reregister it's registry entries

go to Start, Run and put in

winword /r

then hit enter.

I presume you have applied all service packs, including SP-3 just out?

Milly,

Thanks for the response..yes, I have SP-3 latest.

I took a wild stab & resolved the problem..I ran Windows Uninstaller Cleanup
& COMPLETELY removed Outlook 2003 Business Contact Manager.
Reinstalled, reapplied SP-3, rebooted and the Word launch works
as normal.
Word to the wise, I guess.. running a complete uninstall is the best
starting point.

Bill I - if you read this..thanks for ur help..

have a nice weekend, all

I am experiencing this same problem, you mentioned doing a complete
uninstall-do you uninstall OFFICE itself completely or only one part of the
program? I also have SP3 and it seems the problem began after this service
pack was installed.

Thanksy Murr

Run Uninstaller & completely remove Outlook 2003 Business Contact
Manager. No need to cmpletely uninstall Office..just Outlook 2003 portion.
Reinstall & u shud b good 2 go
