Outlook 2003 won't rember PW even after Regedit solution.

I still can't get Outlook 2003 to remember my password even after using the
solution the MVPs have provided from the MS knowledge database about using
regedit and then reentering the password. I'm using XP and this has just
started happening recently.

A previous poster forgot to mention that s/he disabled a bunch of services
and ran a registry cleaner. When this happens, the KB article doesn't work.
Have you made any changes along these lines just previous to this behaviour
starting?

No...I haven't fiddled with the registry at all prior to trying the Outlook
fix.

and what about the other part about disabling services? the reason that i
ask is that there are a lot of tweaking sites and at least one computer
manufacturer (Toshiba) that recommend disabling services. If the protected
storage service was stopped, then applications can't store passwords.

Ahh sorry...No I don't recall disabling any services lately. Is there a way
I can check if "protected storage" service is stopped?

Thanks.

Although I am now having problems with MSN Messenger in the password
department. I have "sign in automatically" checked to remember the password
for my profile, but it won't log me in unless I uncheck it and enter the
password manually.

Did some checking on the internet and discovered that my "protected storage"
service is "started". I stopped it, then restarted it. I'm still having
password problems.

So how about it anybody? Am I going to get an answer on this problem or
what? There's a bunch of people on the net looking for a solution to this
problem and none of the answers cut it yet.

Does the problem happen with a new user id on XP? (Leaning towards a
corrupted user registry section.)
