Outlook 2003 won't restart after closing

I have one user whose Outlook 2003 won't restart if he happens to close the
program. If he closes it, the only way he can get back into Outlook is to
restart his computer.

There are no error messages that I am aware of, just the program never
restarts.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

This usually happens when something is keeping Outlook open, even though the
main window is gone. Start Task Manager and see if you see another
OUTLOOK.EXE on the Processes tab. Stop it and you should be able to start
Outlook again without rebooting. Then check here for ideas on what's
keeping it open: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.htm

That's definitely the case here. I'm presently connected to the computer in
question with Remote Desktop, and the process is definitely staying open
even after you close Outlook. Once I manually kill the process in Task
Manager, I can reopen Outlook.

Now I just have to figure out why it's not closing...

I'm stumped as to what it is. I disabled all the add-ins and COM objects in
Outlook, I turned off e-mail virus scanning, and looked at everything that's
running, and I can't for the life of me figure out what else could be
accessing that program after I've closed it.

He doesn't have a PDA, he doesn't use WinFax, nor does he have any anti-spam
scanner software running.

The only thing he had that was on that Slipstick list was the Fourelle
Venturi Client, which I took out of the StartUp group, so it's not even
running as a process right now.

Any other thoughts as to what it might be?

Fourelle is like winfax, just having it on the system can cause hang issues.
Try removing it.
