A View that is filtering the message so that you can't see it or a rule that
is moving it to another folder. The Unread Mail folder should show you (at
the far right) what folder the message is in.

Thought of that,there are no rules in place.

If it says they are, then they are and you have a filter hiding them or you
are sorting by a column other than "Received".
