Outlook 2003

I have a new computer running Win XP pro. It connects to the outside through
D-Link router, thus I have both Windows and my PC-cillin (anti-virus)
firewalls disabled. When starting Outlook it does not automatically connect
to my internet provider. However, after clicking 'send receive all', it does
everything ok. I have been looking into just about everything possible to
find out the box to check or uncheck, without success so far.

Any suggestions please?

First --- Turn you Windows Firewall back on! Routers can
and do fail.

Second, choose Options from the Tools drop down menu. The
click on the Mail Setup tab. Place a check in the Send
immediately when connected box.

Thanks Chuck, but the problem is that the box is checked. I have forgotten to
write it, apologies.
