Outlook 2003

Has anyone got a clue on how to get rid of an anoying
error message when opening Outlook 2003 that reads:

"An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file:
extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have
permission to open it, or it may be open in another
program. Right-click the folder that contains the file,
and then click Properties to check your permissions for
the folder."

I have tried to replace extend.dat, remove it, and rename
it. I also have tried to start Outlook in safe mode in
the run command. I have used the repair and detect
feature in the help menu. And I have reinstalled Office
2003 from the add/remove section of control panel. Short
of completely uninstalling Office is there anyone that
has fixed this problem. I really do not want to go thru
the pain of backing up and restoring everything and
posibly still not getting rid of this thing. Maybe even
still having remnents causing this problem not back out
of the registry.

The only article that also refers to this error on the MS
the site is article 287844 regarding a MS Word error. It
plainly says there is no resolution or work around this
issue--dated 2/27/2002.

Has anyone run into this issue and fixed it.

Thanks.
