Outlook 2007 Advanced Find is Broken

I am using outlook 2007 on windows XP. It has been working fine but within
the last 2 weeks, Advanced Find has stopped working correctly. I am guessing
that a recent security patch has caused it, but I am not sure. I am up to
date on all critical patches.

If I open the advanced find dialog to search the inbox and I type some text
and search “subject field onlyâ€, it will not find the e-mails. If I
repeatedly press the “find now†after a number of presses, the matching
e-mails will appear. If I press “find now†again, they are no longer listed
and I have to keep pressing find now to get them to reappear.

Additionally, when it does list the e-mails, it does not always list all
matches. For example, in a scenario where there are 12 unread e-mails in my
inbox, if I leave the search field blank and go to the “more choices†tab
and then check “Only items that are unread†and click find now, it may
display 4 e-mails in the list but at the bottom of the find dialog, it says
“12 itemsâ€. If I click “Find Now†again, eventually it will display all of
them.

I have searched but I cannot find anything about this problem. Thanks for
your help.
