Outlook 2007: contacts - User-Defined Fields and Sorting

Drat! It seems you can't sort on user-defined fields in contacts. I have
already mapped a few other fields so there are no more fields that I can use
for my purpose that would be feasible.

Is there a way around this?

I meant to say "searching", not "sorting"
