Outlook 2007 continually resets

I apologise if this is well known and has been answered many times
before however it is driving me crazy.

I receive a lot of e-mail and do not always have the time to read it
all when it comes in. All my mail is listed by when it arrives latest
is last. Therefore I have to go back to read some, if not all, mail
maybe two or more pages but recently Outlook keeps jumping to the
most
recent which lose my place and is why I am going greyer by the
minute.
Outlook is setup to check mail when started and then every 1440
minutes - in other words check when started and then never again.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this quirke?

P.S. I thought that I would fool it by changing the listing order to
alphabetical it then jumped to Z

Help please!!!

Had already changed order BUT tried your suggestion however the 'Reset
Current View' is greyed out so not available to me!

Is there a way to enable this?
