Outlook 2007 - emails stuck in outbox if using cache mode only

Hello,

We've deployed Office 2007. A number of users with tablets are experiencing
emails getting stuck in the outbox intermittently. If you log into the
webmail account, there's no emails showing in the webmail outbox. If you log
into a desktop not using cache mode there are not emails in the outbox.
However, on the tablets using cache mode the emails are showing and the
user cannot send another email. At time the send/rec message indicates that
the mailbox has exceeded the limit even if it is not exceeding the limit.
The only way to get rid of the emails is to delete the ost files and recreate
the files by restarting outlook. The problem reoccurs after a few days. I
was able to resolve the issue for only one of the users by compacting the ost
file, however this solution does not work on the others.

Any suggestion of how we can prevent this from happening would be greatly
appreciated as we have alot of frustrated users on our hands.

How big are these mailboxes?
What is the limit set to?
Is the warning given on the Error tab of the Send/Receive dialog or as a
separate (automated) message from the System Administrator?
What is the size of the email messages?

How big are these mailboxes?

- The mailboxes vary from 50 mb to 100 mb
What is the limit set to?

- The mailboxes are never truly over the limit.
Is the warning given on the Error tab of the Send/Receive dialog or as a
separate (automated) message from the System Administrator?

- In the send and receive tab. The user never receives a system admin
message as their mailboxes are normally not really full when the issue occurs.
What is the size of the email messages?

- the messages are normally very small, a quick email. No attachement and
attachments.

- I noticed that this only happens if using cache mode on a tablet. the
same mailbox on a desktop without cache mode does not show any emails stuck
in the outbox.

Thank you for your reply.

Are there any add-ins installed here? When it happens again, what is the
size of the ost-file?
