Outlook 2007 error message while restoring files

I backed up my Outlook 2007 files using the add-on pst backup program for
Outlook. When I tried to restore the files using the Outlook restore/archive
function, I got this message. 'This Personal Folders file (.pst) is already
in use in the current profile' and the restore terminated. I've previously
done numerous successful backup and restores with these folders using this
same technique. What does this error message mean? What did I do wrong this
time?

It means that the pst-file that you are trying to restore is already
configured in Outlook. In other words; you already looking at it.
Note that "Archive..." is something completely different from a restoring or
making a backup.

What exactly did you do that requires your to restore and what exactly are
you doing to restore it?
Post exact steps to reproduce.
