Outlook 2007 Exchange setup loop

My work uses MS Exchange and I have been using Outlook 2007 on a Vista
Ultimate machine (from home) for almost 2 years with no problem. About a week
ago I lost the ability to connect (sorry cannot remember the error message as
I have seen lots in trying to fix it).

First issue - Outlook wouldn't remember password even with box checked. I
tried all the usual fixes (delete protect folder...) this also ment I could
not connect to the server.

Second issue - I deleted my Outlook profile and tried setting up it again. I
can get to the point where I'm asked for the MS Exchange & User Name. When I
click on Check name the login/password dialog box opens and I'm caught in the
login loop because the password isn't remember and I cannot connect to the
server.

I checked with work IT and they say no changes have been made.

I have also tried setting up Outlook on different machines ans OSs, even
Outlook 2003, but always the same login loop.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the reply.

First I tried to "repair" office but got an error (think it was 2203..) then
I tried a system restore and finally tried using different computers and
different versions of Outlook and all have this issue of getting stuck at a
login loop.

I have been able to set up Outlook to access gmail so it would seem Outlook
is fine.

Any other ideas?

Found the answer - yes you can ping it.

I tried by name and IP and both time out.

Does this mean no server access?

it either means the server is down or its not answering pings. I'd probably
try accessing it via a browser - see if you get an IIS error (that means you
are getting in). Or just ask the administrator how to set up outlook.

Hi Again,

My admin says I cannot ping it because it is behind a firewall.

I do have web access to the mail server, but would like to have back my full
Outlook ability (which I have had for the last few years) so I can sync my
Palm TX.

I continue to trouble shoot.
