Hello,

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007 that have been working
without any problems for the last 6 months.

Suddenly and without doing anything in my system, Outlook 2007 is freezing
(not responding) every time I open it. Please let me know what can I do in
order to solve this major problem.

Thank you,
Aris

I will be very interested to wait the responses. I have a 6 week old Dell
computer running Vista Ultimate. All of the installed programs were working
properly until about 2 weeks ago when Outlook started giving me problems. It
keeps freezing up, saying Outlook not responding, but the problem is
intermittent. It will work fine for a little while, then when I try to click
between e-mails it will freeze, while typing a message it will freeze. It
will untimately respond, but it takes forever to use.
I was on the phone will Dell for a total of about 6 hours yesterday trying
to fix the problem. At one point they told me I would have to do a complete
reinstall of the OS, but I did not see that as a viable option. And the
problem occurs only in Outlook. The rest of the Office programs are
functioning with no problems.

Help, I am having the same problem. When I go to open Outlook 2007, it
freezes. In the bottom left corner it says databinding. I can not access
anything in Outlook. Not my calendar, mail, contacts or anything else. What
can I do?

Does anyone respond to these problems? Here are all the other things that
I've tried based on the various support topics
1. checked the com-add ons and disabled any that were not Microsoft.
Didn't seem to have any affect.
2. Uninstalled the Office 2007 suite. When I attempted to reinstall it I
got multiple c:/config.mis/XXXXXXX.rbf. error messages. Kept clicking retry
and eventually got the program back in, but still with the same problems.
3. Running Outlook in Safe Mode. Somewhat better, but still hangs up when I
try to write an e-mail. I can be typing away in the e-mail and all of a
sudden the screen goes "light" and it just stays there for a few minutes.
4. Tried to give up and install Office 2003, but the system wouldn't take
the install.
This is SOOOOO frustrating.

Hello, Aris and others:

I have Windows Business and Outlook 2007. Mine had occasional freezes
on opening, attributed by Microsoft to an add-in. HOWEVER, beginning
about 10 days ago, my computer freezes when Outlook attempts to
download mail. I suspect that a recent automatic update is the source
of the problem, as the onset of the problem seems to be roughly the
same time for all of us.

As for DASegari, I recall seeing an instruction for Dell users to
uninstall a program from Cyberlink that is used to install Outlook at
the factory. Good luck. As for the rest of us, we may have to do a
roll-back in Vista to an earlier working configuration.

Hi,
I have the same problem as you describe and the same configuration.
Initially Outlook worked fine but after some time it didn't start it was
hanging (not responding). I found out that if I am very quick to start
Outlook when booting the PC it works.
I have never been able to figure out which program in the startup sequenze
that is causing the problem, but at least I found a work around.
But I am hoping that someone can help me to find a better solution then
restarting the PC to be able to startup Outlook

Hello,
Has anyone worked out what the freezing problem was. I have only installed
Vista and outlook 2007 3 days ago and when ever I open outlook it just
freezes and I have tried re installing, did not help at all. I have to go to
task manager and close it there. would really love to know if there is a
solution to this it is enough to send a person mad.

Hi, I have had xp pro & Outlook 2007 working for months but lately Outlook
2007 will only open in 'safe' mode. Reinstalled Outlook but the problem
remains. Luckly, my other computer running xp home & Outlook 2007 is still
working. Has anyone found a solution to the problem yet?

I have the same issues as many of you have already expressed. I had hoped
that SP! would fix theis "not responding "issuse but it did not. Has anyone
figured this out yet? Thank you

I was having major issues with Outlook 2007 / Vista. Worked fine for a couple of months, and then it would simply crash everytime I pushed Send. I even had it set to not automatically send messages in my Outbox. So, this wasn't a server issue. It simply couldn't take the message and put it in my Outbox.

This went on for about a week...basically, whenever I needed to send email I just login to the exact server and sent email through the browser...what a pain.

Well...I was also having a bunch of issues with Internet Explorer. My main one is that it crashed all the time with gmail which I use for personal email. I read on a blog about deleting all Internet History. What do you know....this immediately fixed my Outlook problem!!!

If you are having issues with Outlook like unresponsives, lock-ups, not responding, etc...try doing a Delete All on your Internet Explorer>Tool>Internet Options>Browser History.

I had gone so far as to order an old copy of Outlook 2003 off of e-bay, which I no longer need. But my Outlook is now working perfectly....note my PST file is about 0.7GB.

Good luck!

I find this string very interesting in that Microsoft has not fixed this
problem after many years. I've had my Sony laptop for 1.5 years. Had to
reinstall the entire office suite about 6 months ago due to myriad of
problems. Just the past week, Outlook has started on a freezing binge.
Totally unusable, unless I'm willing to wait 5-10 minutes between mouse
clicks. I would love to see a real fix to his problem.
