Outlook 2007: Long Delay When Opening Appointment

I noticed that there was a long delay the first time I open an outlook
appointment. This started a few months ago. This is Outlook 2007. I
have far more inbox items than I do calendar items yet inbox items
(emails) open up instantly. So do appointments, incidentally, but the
first one takes about 30 seconds before opening. Anyone else seen
this?

For what mail account type?
Is there anything attached to the calendar item?
What kind of addins are installed?
Does running Outlook in Safe Mode solve the issue?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Additionally, verify that you have SP1 and additional updates installed for
Office 2007.

This is an exchange server. No attachments on the calendar item.
No addins. I haven't tried running outlook in safe mode yet. I'll
give it a run.
