Outlook 2007 Modifiing Recurrence with Modified Events

Have many recurrence appointments in my Outlook Calendar. More than 50% get
changed at some point. Eventually when the recurrence is to end, I stop the
recurrence and LOOSE all the appoiments in the recurrence that I had changed.
Is there a way I can convert recurrence appointments to regular appointments
so I don't loose them when I end the recurrence? (I ususally sent the
recurrence to infinity and just want to end them after I know the end date;
sometimes weeks, months, or years later; and I want to keep all the modified
appoinments becuase they have notes and attaements in the item.

Thank you.

Yes. Don't sent the end date, since you'll loose all of your exceptions.
Instead, export the recurring event to a CSV file. Since an infinite series
of events cannot be exported, Outlook will ask you for the range you wish to
export. Give it the beginning and ending dates. Outlook will convert the
recurrences and all exceptions to individual items. Then, delete the
original recurring event and inport the invididual events. Your calendar
will, of course, take more space, since a recurring event is a single item
only, with exceptions stored in the metadata, and the individual events
you're importing are each an item, but you'll have your history.

Thanks for the reply, but I STILL have some questions.

If I do the procedure you are talking about; the export; what happens to the
information in both the modified and unmodified recurrence items when it is
exported. Specifically, sometimes I paste a WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, PDF or
other file in the space/field just below the Start/End time fields.
Sometimes I past formated text or images into that space. Other times I
simply type text into that space. Will I loose all that information if I do
the export or will it stay linked--as an amateur programmer, I don't know how
that information would be maintained with each modefied and each unmodified
recurrence appointment.

Thanks again for your help.

I don't know what would happen to attachments, since I haven't tried it.
Were I you, I'd save all the attachments first, then reattach them if
necessary after the import.

The text you add to the notes pane should remain.

It would certainly be easy enough to find out what gets retained and what
doesn't. Export the recurring event and then examine the contents of the
CVS file either with Excel or Notepad and look at exactly what's retained
and what's not.
