Outlook 2007 Not Available for Trial

There should be specific instructions for idiotproofing the free trial of
Office 2007 regarding the installation of Outlook. I have Outlook 2002.
After struggling for more than 4.5 hours, I had to make an assumption: one
cannot install with either an older version of Outlook on the drive, ANY
version on the drive, or on a Sunday (this one being New Years Eve). To
help, I deleted my copy of 2002. Now, since 2007 will not load, I cannot use
my Outlook.PST. I realize that I am an idiot for deleting this program (I do
not have the install disk any longer, which was the primary reason for taking
advantage of the free trial). However, there must be a light at the end of
the tunnel.

Could this tie into the reasons other users were asking for FREE copies of
2003? If so, it would have been much easier for the host company to allow
earlier versions of Outlook access to the trial download.

My qustions:

1. How can I download Outlook 2007?
2. What can I do to get back into my .PST file?

Hi J.,

For the Office 2007 Trial editions MS chose to have the default behavior be to leave in place a prior MS Office product suite so
that you could go back to it if you didn't like the 2007 edition enough to purchase it after the trial (you'd likely still want or
need to have the CDs for the prior version to 'repair' any problems that might crop up if rolling back.

Unfortunately, the downside of that choice was that 2 versions of Outlook can't coexist, so the old one stays and the new one isn't
installed and that part isn't obvious.

The only Office 2007 Trial edition that does not include Outlook 2007 is the Office 2007 Home & Student edition, which includes
Onenote 2007 rather than Outlook 2007 (http://office.microsoft.com/suites )

When you say you 'deleted' your Office XP/2002 version did you uninstall it or just zap the file folders that held it?

If the other MS Office 2007 trial apps are working, then under the Microsoft Office 2007 listing in Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel, bring up the Office 2007 choice and change the status of Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 from 'Not Available'
to 'Run from my Computer', restart the PC and see if that gives you Outlook 2007.

Installed office 2007 pro trial with outlook and all is well.

Every one of the components of office (including outlook) run sweet as a
nut.

I can not wait for early February to buy the boxed version of office 2007
pro (apart from the price)

Hey Dude:

Get a cool bottle of Dom and use System Restore and Pray. If that doesnt
