Outlook 2007 / Outlook 2003 Attachments

I have Outlook 2003. When I get attachments from anyone with Outlook 2007
the attachment extension gets changed. Example: .pdf extensions get changed
to .efw extensions. There is an attachment icon but it's not the pdf icon
but a generic icon as if it doesn't know the file type. Attachment from
these people worked until they started using 2007.

What file extension do the senders show in their sent message items?

If they send a .pdf I get a .efw. Also tried an Xcel file. They sent a 2007 file it came in as .xlsx. I can't remember the extension of the 2007 file but I do have the convertion from Microsoft and have opened 2007 files before. Anyway the file came through with an icon but a generic icon and not the xcel icon.

This problem is due to Outlook 2007 cause I get attachments from others
using 2003 and they still work.

I am not sure you answered my question.

1. Sender sends you a .docx file from Outlook 2007 (Word 2007 document)
2. When you go to that *sender's* Outlook Sent Items and open that e-mail,
what does the attachment show as the extension type?

I am not interested in what you receive right now, I am trying to
troubleshoot if it is a client side issue or a network translation issue.
