Outlook 2007 Problem

I have Office 2007 installed and with the exception of this error it has been
almost flawless.

I have 5 POP accounts and an exchange acount setup in Outlook and only one
of the POP accounts gives me a problem. the error I receive is:

"None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported
by your server"

Does anyone have any ideas? I have verified all the setting and checked
with my ISP to ensure they were not having server problems. It was working
perfectly prior to the upgrade.

What happens when you switch off SMTP authentication? If it doesn't
work, when you switch it on again, what happens then?
Can you ask your ISP what SMTP server they are using?
Some other people have reported a similar issue, but so far we don't
know yet for which servers this issue occurs and therefore can't bug it
so that MS can take a look.

Patrick,

I turned off SMTP authentication (required by my ISP - Adelphia) and
everything went though just fine. Soon as I turned it back on the error
reappears. I tried it several times all with the same results.

I'll contact Adelphia to see if they will tell me which server product they
use.

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Leave it turned off then. Please email me once you hear back from your
ISP. You can get my email from my website.

Thanks,

Patrick,

Follow-up. It turns out that the ISP does not use SMTP authentication and
never has. It appears that Outlook 2007 actually identified a problem and
isn't the cause of one.

Hi Steve,

Good to hear. Please be sure to let Microsoft know how this came out for you using the 2007 feedback tool from the link below. The
Office product team worked hard on this version and positive comments are always appreciated :)
