Outlook 2007 - Quick Parts not saving

Trainer

Using Outlook 2007 on XP. When saving Quick Parts in Outlook the dropdown
says Save In NormalEMail - it does not say Save In Normalemail.dotm as it
should. She has a Normalemail.dotm in he Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates folder and the date did not update with the Quick
Part entry recently made. Any idea why this is happening and what we can do
about it? Thanks.

Trainer,
I am having the exact same problem and can not for the life of me
figure out why my Quick Parts are not saving in outlook 2007. Seemed
to happen only after I upgraded to Vista on my laptop. Have tried
deleting and recreating NormalEmail.dotx as I found a discusstion
group but it does not save after I reboot.

To answer your question, I beleive that IS normalemail.dotx, it is
just that the extension (.dotx) does not show in the drop down. There
is only NORMAL and NORMALEMAIL.

If you find an answer to the mystery of th emissing Quick Parts could
you email me I would appreciate it. (e-mail address removed) . Thanks

Following up on my previous post I have not found a solid answer but I
did figure out a workaround for now which I have posted on my site
here. <http://www.naplestech.com/pages/
outlook_quick_parts_not_saving.htm>

Anyone that finds a better solution please post here. Thanks
Len

I found the problem. It is related to everything that gets updated in your
NormalEmail.dotm template.

You have an add-in that is not allowing Outlook to shut down and save the
template. Stop Outlook, and check task manager. You will see that Outlook is
still running.

Kill the process then disable add-ins one by one, starting and stopping
Outlook and killing the process if necessary in task manager until you find
the one causing the problem.

For me is was a some bluetooth update add-in.

I'm having a similar problem where I'm changing the autoshape defaults to use
a red, heavy-weighted border and no fill, yet when I compose a new email
message it doesn't use that default. When I reopen NormalEmail.dotx, the
autoshapes are created correctly. It's like Outlook is ignoring the
NormalEmail.dotx defaults for autoshapes.
