Outlook 2007 "sent items" contents invisible

L

Les Blake

The "Sent Items " email folder in outlook 20007 refuses to display it's
contents although I can make it display the number of emails that are
present.

I forced outlook to create a new pst file, then imported everything from the
original pst, and the files re-appeared only to dissapear again the
following day.

Is there a setting that I've missed that could be causing this ? Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks

Les Blake

Never import from a PST. There's no reason and you can lose data. Simply
reuse the original PST. File>Open>Outlook Data File. Drag-and-drop to
arrange things as you want.

Dump the new PST and use the original.

That's fine Brian but what about my invisible files. How do you suggest I
get them back ?

I clearly didn't explain the problem properly. It was on a new computer, new
Vista and new outlook 2007. The files were invisible from the getgo so,
having tried everything else, I resorted to creating the new pst and
importing from the original. At first I thought it had worked, the emails
were visible, but it then reverted to the invisible as before. As I said,
the file count is ok but I'd prefer to be able to see the contents of the
sent items folder.

If you start with the original PST instead of the one with which you are
having trouble, you shouldn't have the problem.

As I already said NEVER export to or import from a PST. It's unnecessary,
you lose data, and can wind up with other side effects as well. Again: USE
THE ORIGINAL PST.

What "file count" are you talking about? PSTs don't contain files. A PST
is one, single file.

I still don't think you've understood !

The problem existed in the ORIGINAL PST -The original PST is the one that
concealed the emails.

OK, I'm now using the original PST file and the sent items folder shows
there are 128 items but they are not visible i.e. the emails cannot be seen.
How can I make them visible ?

Have you checked your VIEW settings?

I'm sure I shouldn't have the problem but the fact is I have - and it's been
there from the very begining. It's NEVER worked properly. All attempts to
correct the situation have failed ! I've tried every setting I can find. I
loaded the software on a different computer and it works fine. It's just on
this one computer.

Perhaps it's been infected somehow.

Right click on the toolbar area and select the Advanced toolbar. Using the dropdown, enable the All Messages view. You are probably using the new messages view.

What view do you have selected for that folder? What happens of you start
Outlook once with the /cleanviews command switch?

Yep.

that concealed the emails.

Did you migrate the original PST from your prior PC or simply start using
Outlook on the new PC fresh, with empty folders when you started?

I am using VISTA premium with Office 2003 and my CONTACTS in Outlook keep
dissapearing. I restore Outlook pst files from my back up. The only 'trend' I
can see is when I email photos from Wiindows Photo Gallery. On most occasions
the Contacts dissapear straight after that. I keep searching for solutions
but none yet.

What does this have to do with the OP's question?
