Outlook 2007 Strange Calendar Behavior

J

John B

Under my "mailbox" I have an entry for my Calendar. If I receive a meeting
request and accept it, it will be added into this calendar. If I select this
calendar and double click it, rather than opening a new appointment, it opens
a new discussion item. I can add an appointment off the "new" item in the
file menu. If I make the new appointment as "private" before adding, I can
never reopen the item. It simply says "private appointment".

If I click on "Calendar" in the navigation pane it opens a different
calendar not the one under my mailbox. Double clicking in this calendar does
open a new appointment entry.

My questions:
1) how do I get the calendar un my Mailbox to open when I use "Calendar"
in the navigation pane.
2) how do I get rid of the current calendar in the navigation pane
3) how do i get a new appointment to open rather than a discussion item
when I double click on a date
