Outlook 2007 Unwanted Message Display in Editor mode

Somehow I must have used a shortcut key as messages both inbound and outbound
are now displayed in an editor mode where spaces and carriage retruns are
denoted by dots and symbols. I'm familiar with draft, print, web views etc
in Word and can find nothing of the sort in Outlook.

Please advise how I revert to the standard display.
