Hi,
I have an SBS 2003 Server with a client using XP Pro and connecting via
Small Business Server Connection manager. Nine times out of ten she gets the:
"Task reported error 0x8004011D. The server is not available. Contact your
administrator if this condition persists."
I have checked that she can ping the server from a command prompt and that
works fine and indeed she can access another application on the same server
that uses a terminal application and she can get through to run that OK so I
know she is connected OK to the main server.
In an earlier attempt to see if I could get this to work I did add the
server name to the hosts file (I know in and Active Directory and DNS set up
I shouldn't need this but when you are struggling you try anything). I don't
think I need it but threw that in, in case it is now having a negative
bearing on the issue.
I had a look at various posts including the KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939321
but this seems to be Vista based and the "netsh advfirewall ..." command
isn't available to XP.
Does anyone know of any other reasons that might be causing this? She has
found that she can connect on a day when there are less users in the office
that she is connecting to, so it may be some form of limit that is being
exceeded??
Any help appreciated,
Siv
