Outlook 2007 w/MS Office Home & Student

I purchased Outlook 2007 and installed it. It's wonderful but since I only
have MS Office 2003, the "themes" feature won't work. I want to know if I
purchase and install MS Office 2007 (Home and Student version), will this
enable me to use the themes/background/etc feature in my Outlook 2007?

I'm not sure why Milly said it wouldn't. I'd be inclined to think it would
be just the same as if you purchased an edition of Office that included
Outlook 2007. Granted I haven't tried this myself so I'm not sure so that's
an educated guess. Perhaps Milly can enlighten us? I suspect she may have
misread the question since we get a lot of questions along the lines of "I
have the Home and Student version can I get Outlook 2007 if I want it
without purchasing it separately."

Anecdotally speaking, we have had several questions about this in the Outlook news groups and the universal answer has been that standalone Outlook added to H&S Office does not offer the integration required to get themes working. You can try a Detect and Repair but the results have not been good.

You'd think there would be a way, a Registry hack or perhaps a missing file?

ok...I have been having this problem. Bought outlook 2007....didn't have
themes.....so I upgraded to microsoft office 2007, because the guy in India
told me it would work........I installed Office 2007 and it still doesn't
work........what a rip off.........

I am having the same problem.

I have the following installed:

1. Outlook 2007
2. Office 2007 Home and Student

For the life of me - I cannot get THEMES to work either.

Is there ANY way to even try to get this kick-started in the registry?

This is SOOOO FRUSTRATING.

I feel like I have been ripped off! (It is no wonder why Apple is gaining
ground....)

Can somebody PLEASE help me?!?!?

Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]

The Office 2007 programs must be from the same suite. You can try a detect and repair but I doubt that it will work.

Me too - what a rip-off! You would expect that with common packaging and
graphic design of the packages that all the office components whether bought
as one or separately would integrate and work together! This is the 21st
centuary isn't it? If a standalone version of Outlook 2007 is not designed
to work with other Office versions you would think that if not legally, then
morally, MS would have to say so on the box; I certainly did not see anything
to that effect, or is this just another corporate wheeze to get their hands
on our hard earned cash? I too had the inevitable assurances from our Indian
friends that it would work! So much for Help Desks; a contradiction in
terms, me thinks!
