_OUTLOOK_2007_WILL_NOT_OPEN.

I am running Windows 7 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007, bu
Outlook 2007 won’t open.
_HISTORY:
*My apologies in advance for the length of this query.*
Since a serious hardware failure I got a new hard disc and reinstalle
Office and Outlook was fine. :)
About 1 month later Windows 7 was delivered and I installed it on m
newish hard disc.
Good bye Office, etc! :(
After some hassle getting a new Product Key, I was up and running. :)
I had read raves about Microsoft’s Windows Easy Transfer (WET
software. Wet it is!
I have now read on the forums that it corrupts Outlooks data files. I
seems to have done that to mine. :confused:

I have been through all sorts of “solutions” for the errors tha
occurred, including:
Lost address book;
Dodgy .pst files;
Receiving emails but not being able to send them;
The operation failed. An object cannot be found;

The Current Error is:
“Cannot open your default email folders. The information store coul
not be opened.”

PLEASE HELP

I have taken the following *_actions_* at various times:
Run M/S Diagnostics = No problems;
Created a new profile – several times as per Diane Poremsky’s response
to others – I must have too many .pst files, 5 I believe, so the
should be reduced.
Tried to run Outlook in safe mode – no luck;
Run scanpst.exe - some minor error detected and fixed but no change.

Easy transfer issues are usually fixed by a new profile. Because of all the
problems I would uninstall office, reboot, delete or rename the two outlook
folders under %appdata% then reinstall it and make a new profile. Do not use
the old pst in it - we'll get the contents from them later.

Thank you Diane.
I will do that, but first please advise what you mean by "rename th
two outlook folders under %appdata%"?
Under C:\Users\Neil\AppData I have 3 Folders called Local, LocalLow an
Roaming.
Under C:\Users\Neil\AppData\Local\Microsoft I only have one Outloo
folder.

There should be one under roaming too.
C:\Users\neil\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook
C:\Users\neil\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook <== this has pst files

I did that but no luck Diane!

When I used "Show profiles" after creating a new profile (inc tes
email which was OK) my old profiles were still there along with my ne
profile.
This is despite having renamed the 2 folders under %appdata%.
I get 2 errors depending on mail settings:

1. With mail profile set to *prompt for a profile* I get "No profile
have been created. To create a new profile, use the Mail icon in Contro
Panel".
I click OK and get:
"Cannot start M/S Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The serve
is not available. Contact your Administrator if this persists.".
Outlook then closes.

2. With mail profile set to *use this profile* I get "Cannot open you
default folders. The info. store could not be opened."
I click OK and Outlook closes.

I opened the .pst file using Wordpad and it opened - but gave m
gibberish, understandably. Setings for this file questionable?

Could it be that Outlook is finding some of my old corrupted settings
it is finding my old profiles? My hard disc is split into drives C: an

I saved Outlook data on D: so it was available if C: had to b
formatted again in the future. Hopefully not!

When you rename the folders, you need to do a reinstall/repair and either
make a new profile or make sure the pst is in the new folder so outlook can
find it. I'd do the new profile route so you can see if Outlook works. Just
a simple profile with 1 account will suffice. Unless you specifically told
outlook the pst was on the D drive, its in the Outlook folder under your
user account.

The pst is binary - its not readable, except by outlook and recovery tools.

I deleted the Outlook folders on C:\ ... \appdata and renamed all
Outlook folders on D: then ran Repair from the MS Office Pro Plus 2007
disc 1.
I got an error 2203 saying Configuration did not complete successfully,
Contact PSS. This led me to MS Answers.
I am trying the answers at:
http://tinyurl.com/y86kj6m
and
http://tinyurl.com/y8kpe95
will then re-instal Office / create new profile in Outlook.

Sound OK?

I did that - with difficulty.

Solution was to uninstal Office 2007, which did not remove all of it
got an error mesage "The language of this installation package is no
supported by your system." when trying to uninstal/repair/reinstal.
Manually uninstalled using:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/
That did not work so:
Copied files from Office DVD to my hard disc (apart from 1 read onl
file) and ran setup form there. I then uninstalled it via Control Pane
and reinstalled it from the DVD. Bingo!

Created a new profile on Outlook but worryingly the old profiles ar
still there.
Please advise.

No luck!

Outlook gives the error message:
"Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The information store could
not be opened."

I tried removing all my profiles before creating a new one.

I noticed during the last attempt that when I repaired Outlook after
renaming the 2 Outlook Folders that the Outlook folder under Roaming was
NOT reinstated.

I tried creating the folder myself and copied the files from
Appdata/Local/Microsoft/Outlook to Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/Outlook but
no luck either.

Please advise me!
