Outlook 2007 Won't Insert Attachments

I scanned several pages in PDF format and then tried to insert them as
attachments in an email I wanted to post. But when I click the name of the
file and then click the "Insert" box, a circle with a line through it
appears, meaning it is a no-no. Why not? Thanks.

Can you drag them from Windows to the mail message?

The problem resolved on its own, but I have never heard of the method you
suggested here and will give it a try anyway. Thanks.
