Outlook 2010 journal issue

This may seem like a trivial issue but I use the journal in Calendar view, create items and stretch them out (similar to the calendar functionality) to record time. Whenever I create items in the 2010 journal, switch to say the inbox and back, I lose the ability to stretch the items out. Is this abug?
