Outlook 2010 Speed

SRM

From what I understood, Outlook 2007 was slow. I am going to be
purchasing a new computer which will include W7 64 Bit and Office
2010. I can stay with Office 2003 or go to Office 2010.

My question is how does Outlook 2010 handle large PST files? I have a
PST file that is approximately 10 GB. I know the size limit in 2010 is
50 GB, but was wondering about the speed using such files in 2010
since 2007 was slow.

You make no sense. pst files do not dictate the speed of Outlook, The configuration
of OL and also your ISP connection can possibly dictate the speed but nothing else.

I hated Outlook 2007 because it was very slooooow.
Outlook 2010 seems much faster at launch time even though
it's still not that fast.
It's very slow though if the first message in the listbox,
the one displayed, is in html since Outlook will also
launch Word (the rendering engine).
But still, nothing compares to the Outlook 2007 speed
disaster!

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess I didn't ask my question correctly. I was more asking about
opening a 10 GB file and understanding that I heard Outlook 2007 being
slow. I remember reading that when opening a file in Outlook 2007 over
1 GB, Outlook ran slow. Hence, I asked my question about opening a 10
GB file in Outlook 2010.

Thanks.
