Outlook 97 --> OE 6 - - how?

I have to move a user from a problematic Outlook 97
installation running on an NT4 sp6a machine to OE 6 on a
W2K sp4 machine. Attempts to import from
c:\windows\outlook.pst into either OE 6 or OE 5 fail with
the message, "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI
client. An error has occured." Does anyone know of a way
to accomplish this? I could recreate an OE 4 installation
on an NT machine if necessary. Thanks in advance for any
help which anyone can provide.

Have you tried exporting from OE to Outlook on that computer, instead?
